Tonight we had a wonderful and leisurely (3 hour) dinner with friends at a fabulous restaurant in Kitchener called Verses. It's a church that has been converted into a very schmancy restaurant with fantastic food. Very atmospheric and beautiful lit, I wish it wouldn't look strange to be wandering around while people are eating, taking pictures. Knowing we were going for dinner, and that there would definitely be dessert, the subject for this prompt was pretty well determined.
Having been working in manual mode for the past couple weeks, and after discovering the joy of my 50mm lens, I was set. The lighting conditions were far from ideal, as the only light I really had to work with was from the flames of two little lamps on the table. Dessert came, and voila, a photo was taken!
I'm really happy with how the picture turned out. I love the colour tones in the picture from the lamps, and the angle that the dessert plate is at. I'm especially pleased with the fact that I actually had a picture that I could use - I even had a couple to choose from! A couple of weeks ago, I would not have even attempted this shot, let alone have been successful! I've learned so much over this month of "Picture Fall".
